The top one is what I call lightning bug, it is 3/32oz with a size 1 hook, chartreuse bucktail, green flash and black and yellow variegated chenille. The middle one is what I call cinnamon ant, it is a 1/16oz head with a size 2 hook, brown bucktail with gold flash and brown and yellow variegated chenille. The last one is what I call black gnat, it is a 1/16oz head with a size 2 hook, black marabou tail and body with no flash. I made these to see if I can make a nice pattern that is easy to tie for my grandson, he is coming here for the weekend and he loves fishing and helping make lures. When he saw me tying with chenille and marabou he was interested right away and he really wants to learn so I'm going to help him get started and we can then learn together.

tie a woolly bugger pattern on the jig head. Simple to tie, gets him tying in chenille, hackle and maribou for the tail. And they do catch fish - use what ever colors you want. It's great he wants to learn and you get Papa time with him!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like you should have some fun! Simple is good for a start and hopefully he will be teaching you some new things to try too since he will be looking at it all with fresh eyes - pay attention. ;)

Do like the cinnamon color one - would be a dead ringer for craw colors in a couple lakes i fish. Still doesn't beat the solid black though.

Thanks all, I said it before and I'll say it again, I'm learning something new just about everyday. TF, would you believe that chenille strip was something I didn't find out by looking it up, it happened by accident on another pattern. I was palmering the chenille forward and I was going pretty quick and in my haste I dropped the card of chenille and the top two wraps loosened up and when I went to tighten them up I noticed that the chenille was lined up to make a stripe and now that I saw how it can be done I decided to try it and it came out pretty good I think, thanks for noticing!!
