Dubbing behind the bead needs to be thicker . Still trying to get that part down , harder than it looks . but I aint using any dubbing wax either . Maybe I should:huh:

To wax or not to wax - that is the question. Some say you have to some say not. I started out tying by reading some basic books that said to use wax so i did, which was running my thread over wax drippings from my mom's candle back then. Now i do not use it unless it is VERY finely chopped dubbing. With longer fiber dubbing mix, just twist around the thread and it stays in place and then pick or comb it out once the body is finished.

Could also look up how to use a dubbing loop. I created my own tool to do it and it is fairly simple. No wax and makes really solid bodies.

It's the camera that makes it look huge .

First on a dubbing that dark I'd use black thread - just another turn of dubbing wrap a loop of thread around it then pull off any above it then cinch it down. It'll fish right now so unless your selling them I wouldn't worry about it.

Good tie there Quint. Them little ones are just about too much for me any more. Will leave them to you and Fatman. Remember that I could tie a Adams Dry Fly size 20. But will stick to the size 6 today in my Ahem old age. Still enjoy seeing them.

I have smaller hooks for fly tying but I try to go no lower than a 16 and even that's tough!!!!!
