    Weedless Darter jig mold

I recently got this mold for soft plastics but I took one look and knew it would take a 90 degree hook so poured some of those as well. Tied some 1/8 on a #1 Mustad Ultrapoint hook. Shad and bluegill pattern for starters. Like getting two molds for the price of one.

    One that didn't get away

Craving some fish tacos so headed out to county park lake looking for some bull gills and grabbed a couple ultralights and my little duck jigs and went to work. Gills were still prespawn but found some deeper than spawning areas. Strung up ten 7.5-9" gills but since it was only 9am kept...

    Bass jigs

These are 3/16 and 1/4 oz. Manic Mullet swim jigs that I tied using 3/0 Vmc jig hooks. Trying to imitate Longear Sunfish and other creatures in our rivers here. Itching to stick a smallie or two really bad.

    Crinkle paint

It's my new addiction since I started using it a couple of weeks ago. I went on a bender yesterday and painted about 150 or so, probably have close to a thousand of them now. Thought I might share some pictures.

    Float n fly video

I posted my first tying video on you tube a couple days ago. It was fun and I will be doing more. I made two jigs in the video, one using gadwall flank feathers and one using mallard flank. If you want to take a look it's under JAMES BURKE. Here are the jigs tied in the video. Also did a video...

    My best painted jigs

I finally got the crinkle paint figured out and have been painting some cool heads. Favorite so far are these 1/4 oz poison tails. The secret is after painting the jig will look black and when you cure the heads the colors the colors appear like magic, been curing mine at 300 even though it...

    Crinkle Powder Paint

I purchased some crinkle powder paint and so far gold is working pretty well on jigs and blades. Simple concept of dipping in the base color then into the crinkle and heat again and the color comes through most of the time. One pic is a blade under uv light. A few ties as well.

    Gamakatsu B10S Stinger hook spinnerbaits

Something new I came up with recently this winter. I thought these hooks would fit my 1/16 and 1/8 spinnerbait mold and they did so I poured some using B10S Stinger hooks in size 1, 2 and 4 and tied up a few. Also used Daiichi 1750 streamer hooks in size 4 because the hooks are wicked sharp...

    Opposum jigs and more

Opossum has been my favorite hair the past couple of years. Actually purchased several skins and had two cut into crosscut strips for the bodies. Here are just some of what I've been making this year.

    Float n flys

These are some of what I've been working on during our recent cold spell. Ice has been off the small lakes and ponds for five days so water is still very cold. I was using a 1/48 with a #10 sickle hook under a weighted float and caught a couple nice crappie and a bass yesterday. Biggest crappie...

    Custom chatterbaits

I haven't posted in awhile so I thought I would show some of my chatterbaits since some recent posts had them up. I modified my 3/8 Poison tail mold to take a flat eye hook specifically for this type of bait. Tails are a new material by Wapsi called Awesome Possum zonkers that I special order...

    Bass baits

These are black bear hair with a little opposum and flash for contrast. Wire guard jigs are 1/8, propeller baits are 1/4 oz., I painted the blades on them.

    Crappie pics

Here are a few of the crappie I caught in 2019. These are phone pics, took way too many.

    Crappie baits

2019 was a really good year for me crappie fishing, lot's of 11-13's with some 14+ inchers, didn't break the 15 inch mark this year. Here are some of the baits used.  I haven't fished the propeller baits in a few years but gave some to a buddy and he slayed some slabs fishing them under a float...

    PB BLUEGILL

I fished with Sonny for six days at Lake Perris and caught several PB gills over 11" including this one, just a couple meals away from 12" long that had a girth of close to 16", over 2 lbs. I was using duck jigs tied on #4 Orient Sun jig hooks. These hooks are super sharp and had no issue with...

    Gill trip

I'm heading out to California tomorrow for a shot at some Coppernose bluegill. Lake Perris is giving up a lot of 10-11 inch fish right now. Will post pics when I get back.

    Craft hair Underspins

I made these yesterday since we got iced up and I couldn't go on my morning walk. These are 1/4 oz. and were tied using 4/0 Trokar jig hooks using craft hair, saddle hackle with flash. Hope to catch some hybrid stripers once we get some warmer weather.

    New favorite crappie jig

I've had great success with this jig from big redear and gills to trout and have been starting to catch some nice crappie as well since it has gotten cooler including this fat 15 incher. I lost another one pushing 18 inches on the previous cast when the hook pulled. Lake is 1.1 miles from my...

    Grizzly marabou mini jigs

I'm still catching with these so I'm still tying them. 1/64 now on #10 lil nasty or #12 sickle hooks. Think the little sickles hook better but both have been doing the job on redear, gills, bass, catfish and carp if they wouldn't break me off.
