    Playing with Harbor Freight

Stopped in a Harbor Freight Friday. Just started playing with the mixes today. Weird....used the same cure temp and time I have used for hundreds and got my first drips in a long time with the Pinks. I need to rework my lighting. Colors aren't as good in the pictures, but the olive is a...

    Opossum Coat

After 16 years of marriage and tying flys and jigs since before we started dating, the wife just admitted she has had an opossum coat that she has not worn since the 80's! She won't even pull it out to let me look at it! I wonder how long the hair is? How dark is the hair? Did they tan...

    Thinning Craft Fur??

Every now and then I think about thinning and shaping craft fur. Flat scissors don't provide the desired effect. Has anyone used "thinning scissors"? Pleased? URL=http://s66.photobucket.com/user/BoG_photos/media/image-16.jpg.html][/URL]

    Verticle Bluff Smallmouth

This spring my buddies and I fished Holston Lake in Tennessee. Water was 4 ft high and the only really consistent way to catch smallmouth I understand second hand from locals was with small 1/16 or 1/32 dressed jigs tipped with "minners". They would cast directly at the bluff sitting in about...

    Unexpected score

At a neighbor's today teaching his 10 year old to tie jigs, another neighbor stopped by and said "I have a big heavy brick of lead if you want it". Turns out it is 25.5 lbs. what he wants in exchange is 2 of my best bucktail jigs. He says he wouldn't even fish them but thought it was a...

    Olive Mallard

Tying craws for just me to lose

Simple jigs that catch fish but not necessarily pretty and don't take a lot of time to do. I had a guide tell me his goal on his "guide flies" was to be able to tie in 90 seconds. While it takes me more than 90 seconds it is a simple fish catching jig that doesn't take a lot of time because I...

    First with crosscut bunny

I have been loving all the hair jig y'all tie. My first attempt using crosscut bunny...on the brown/rust I added a "scent pad" of chenille if you want to add scent and keep it off the hair (don't know, just a thought). Left ones are 1/16th and other four are 1/8th all with #2 hooks...

    Eye Painting Station

I forgot I had this...probably already on here but thought I would share. The hard hook part of stick on Velcro top and bottom allows the hooks to slide in and out easily but also holds them enough for painting. Whole piece will hold about 70 1/16th oz jigs for painting.
