Well after his pee wee football game yesterday, my grandson insisted that my son-ikn-law bring him to pop pops house because nanny is making wings and he has to learn to tie jigs!! He arrived, got a shower and ate then for 2 solid hours we tied jigs! At first I had him just wrap thread around...

The top jig is a 3/32oz head in black with blue flake. I used black bucktail with some blue flash, purple cactus chenille with a red soft grizzly hackle collar to finish. The bottom jig is a 1/16oz head in baby bass green with black flake. I used orange hackle feathers on the tail along with...

    Help or suggestions for vise

Hey all, I need help with getting a new vise, I figured since the grandson wants to learn I may as well get a new one so we can sit side by side and he can copy me. I know I'm getting ahead of myself a bit but he loves fishing and is really getting into tackle making by helping me pour lead and...

    One with a collar

Here is one I did trying to finish off the spool of thread I'm using so I have a fresh one for the grandson. I used a 3/32oz head with a size 1 hook, the head is black with red flake which came out in the pic pretty strong so I apologize for that. Anyway, I used some red bucktail, a little gold...

    3 Bugs

The top one is what I call lightning bug, it is 3/32oz with a size 1 hook, chartreuse bucktail, green flash and black and yellow variegated chenille. Crazy colors

This is a jig I made for a few reasons, the first is I'm using up a few orange hackle feathers I have left, and the second is to learn new techiques. What I did was take a left over jig in baby bass green with gold flake and tie a marabou feather in as the tail, I then took the end of the...

    Dark Shadows...lol

After playing around with the new palmering technique for a good part of the afternoon I called it quits and surfed the web a bit and then retired to watch a little television. I wasn't going to tie anything until the neighbor kid started banging on my door asking for another black marabou jig...

    Nor-vise...Anyone using this?

I just came across this vise whilke looking for a better vise in the future and I think I've come across a product that would take the fun out of tying for me but as one who hasn't used it I can't say for sure. I like the concept of the automatic bobbin but it sort of defeats the purpose since...

Simple marabou done a new way.

Here is a jig I did with imput from SB, thank you, and a video I saw. To most this really isn't a big deal but it is to me since I learned something new and how it relates to the action of my jig. This is a 1/16oz head, size 2 hook, with white marabou, silver flash and black ultra chenille...

I may be doing this wrong.

Well I was looking at some jig tying videos, I often get some new ideas from them and today I found a jig tying video of someone palmering marabou. What got me was it was completely different than the way I've been doing it but it still worked so it leads me to this question, am I doing it...

    How does this look?

I did something a little different with this jig, normally when I palmer marabou I'll wrap thread down to where the feather was finished and it is where I start my chenille but on this jig when I got the fullness I wanted from the feather I held the remaining feather tight and palmered it...

    No flash

Top jig is 1/8oz head in baby bass green with chartreuse flake, size 1 hook and olive and chartreuse craft hair with some spots for something different. The bottom one is a 1/16oz head the same color as the top jig, it has a size 2 hook and chartreuse bucktail and medium size olice chenille.

    Swimming jig

This is a jig I had decided was going to be a swimming jig before I tied it. It is a 3/32oz head painted green pumpkin, size #1 hook, the tail is a little bit of red bucktail and medium olive craft fur. I added some green flash and finished off with large olive cactus chenille.

    A few for a friend...

I had a friend drop by and he really liked the idea of me trying out crappie styled jigs for bass fish so he asked if I could make him a couple and here they are. The top one he asked for bucktail and he picked the chenille so I called it the lucky J, his name is Joe so that is where the J came...

Realistic fly tying, is worth trying to do with jigs?

First of all I really like this site, I've learned a lot in a short time. As I learn I look for some inspiration on the net and found, by accident, a trend of realistic fly ties. These are more like works of art than something used to fish with, the insects they represent are spot on to the...

How many make jig patterns that look like actual forage?

The last time fishing, my friend and me did really well with the jigs I made with the UV material, these jigs are pictured in the forum. Anyway, I was happy and it got me deeper into tying and experimenting and today I get a call from a friend who I gave some jigs to with the only condition that...

    bucktail and glow bug

I had some time so I made a traditional bucktail for a friend on mine. The glow bug is just something off the wall I came up with to help use up some of the florescent orange hackle. Anyway, the bucktail is a 1/8oz football head with a 1/0 hook, black ultra thread 210, brown bucktail with some...

    Part spider jig/Part mimc tube

This is a tie that came about because of this site. I was looking at some of my old spider jigs I used to use for smallies when the bite was tough and I thought about trying to tie a jig that was smilar. Well I came here before beginning and saw the mimic tube and here is what I came up with. I...
