Whiskas on a fish don't look so bad....

I don't fish plastics much but this is something I want to try. Stingers are one of my favorite plastics. Do you melt these or glue them?

    Aloha Jigger John !

My condolences to his family and loved ones, he certainly will be missed on Jigcraft as well. He could certainly catch fish and his stories were entertaining. Shocking when it happens like that, I don't know what to say.

    Bass jigs

These are 3/16 and 1/4 oz. Manic Mullet swim jigs that I tied using 3/0 Vmc jig hooks. Trying to imitate Longear Sunfish and other creatures in our rivers here. Itching to stick a smallie or two really bad.

    Powder paint coverage issue

Looks like the head got too hot and developed bubbles. Some powder paints like from Harbor Freight are junk and should be avoided if you are painting jigs.

    New Swordtail jig

I release everything so nothing like a stringer of slabs for them to see. Most fish there for catfish and have no idea that there are big crappie in there and I want to keep it that way.

    New Swordtail jig

This is a city park lake that gets stocked with catfish twice a month. It had a fish kill in December, 2020 and I thought lake was wiped out totally so I didn't fish it for a year. Tried it last December and started catching slab crappie including one giant that broke the 3# mark. I released her...

    SKULL HEADS

I haven't used them yet, still crappie fishing mode for me catching some big ones for our area all spring and summer. Really want to do a smallie trip and use them in the rivers here. Maybe attach a big safety pin spinner and look for some hybrids. My crappie jigs painted with these paints have...

    Powder paint coverage issue

What kind of paint are you using? I've been painting jigs with powder paint for almost 30 years using a Bic lighter as my heat source and never used a fluid bed. You might not be getting the heads hot enough. I'd try stirring the paint and dipping straight into the jar with an extra second or...

    Crinkle paint

It's my new addiction since I started using it a couple of weeks ago. I went on a bender yesterday and painted about 150 or so, probably have close to a thousand of them now. Thought I might share some pictures.

    Float n fly video

I posted my first tying video on you tube a couple days ago. It was fun and I will be doing more. I made two jigs in the video, one using gadwall flank feathers and one using mallard flank. If you want to take a look it's under JAMES BURKE. Here are the jigs tied in the video. Also did a video...

    My best painted jigs

I finally got the crinkle paint figured out and have been painting some cool heads. Favorite so far are these 1/4 oz poison tails. The secret is after painting the jig will look black and when you cure the heads the colors the colors appear like magic, been curing mine at 300 even though it...

    Crinkle Powder Paint

I purchased some crinkle powder paint and so far gold is working pretty well on jigs and blades. Simple concept of dipping in the base color then into the crinkle and heat again and the color comes through most of the time. One pic is a blade under uv light. A few ties as well.

    Gamakatsu B10S Stinger hook spinnerbaits

Something new I came up with recently this winter. I thought these hooks would fit my 1/16 and 1/8 spinnerbait mold and they did so I poured some using B10S Stinger hooks in size 1, 2 and 4 and tied up a few. Also used Daiichi 1750 streamer hooks in size 4 because the hooks are wicked sharp...

    Opposum jigs and more

Opossum has been my favorite hair the past couple of years. Actually purchased several skins and had two cut into crosscut strips for the bodies. Here are just some of what I've been making this year.

    Float n flys

These are some of what I've been working on during our recent cold spell. Ice has been off the small lakes and ponds for five days so water is still very cold. I was using a 1/48 with a #10 sickle hook under a weighted float and caught a couple nice crappie and a bass yesterday. Biggest crappie...
