    New

Definitely been going through some rabbit lately, lot's of confidence when fishing these. Catching some this year but nothing special, yet. It's been colder than normal this year and winter isn't over yet, supposed to hit 0 Degrees in a couple days. I keep tying to keep my sanity through these...

Lure diversity and other stuff make fishing interesting

Right now I'm catching mostly bluegill, crappie and trout. Used a tree branch to break ice around dock at local park lake and the small crappie and gills were biting. Had the whole lake to myself.

    Tail gunners

Hadn't used these in awhile even though they are productive. Made some up during the last cold spell. These weigh 1/16-3/16 with #4 - 1/0 hooks. Glow eyes in some with a bunny tail and used glow chenille twisted together with some baitfish color chenille.

Lure diversity and other stuff make fishing interesting

I agree that lure details matter. When I paint jigs I use colors fish see every day in the forage and bait fish they consume. Typical jig is painted with 3-4 colors. Except for ball head jigs all my jigs have eyes . My favorite eyes look white but actually glow in the dark. They make my jigs...

    New project

Been using swim baits a bunch this year. I added blades to a few. This one was made by cutting an insert for another mold in half, bending the cut end so it would stay in mold while pouring. After painting I added a #2 willow blade, split ring and roller swivel. This bait is 1/4 oz and was...

    Dad always said ....

Wow, beautiful fat smallies. Days like that you never forget. I don't fish smallies like I used too.

    Painting heads

I caught the white bass my last trip to local river, just under 3#. Hair jigs catch everything depending on size. Mostly tying baits with fox lately, even caught two grass carp with them a couple weeks ago.

    Painting heads

I've been making these almost three years and yes, they do catch fish. Main colors resemble bait fish like bluegill , green sunfish, etc. that bigger fish eat. When I tie I use similar colors in the jigs.

    Weedless Darter jig mold

The middle picture jigs were tied with opossum, bear and hand dyed saddle hackle.

    Weedless Darter jig mold

The Victory hooks work ok on the panfish side of things but for bigger fish like bass and hybrid stripers I have more confidence in Gamakatsu, Owner and Mustads. Still afraid to use the more expensive Victory hooks after breaking several at the hook eye. May have been a bad batch but I won't be...

    Weedless Darter jig mold

I recently got this mold for soft plastics but I took one look and knew it would take a 90 degree hook so poured some of those as well. Tied some 1/8 on a #1 Mustad Ultrapoint hook. Shad and bluegill pattern for starters. Like getting two molds for the price of one.
