Craft Hair Jigs

I used to tie them regularly years ago but by the time I finally tried them they were usually tangled up pretty bad. These are 1/16 on a #2 sickle hook, Matzuo. View attachment 7View attachment 8View attachment 9

Your paint skills are amazing, along with the rest of the jig. Craft fur jigs do take some dedication to organization to keep from turning into a ball of ratted fur. HAVE to keep them nice and neat. Had to cut down and re-tie a few of my own in the past.

I too make a lot of Hair jigs using Craft hair and had problems with storage until I went to Hobby Lobby and bought 2 x 3 plastic bags and store all my jigs [Bucktails to] in those bags. Stops the Mess. Nice job on the jigs. Ole

Nice Job. Only way I found to keep them neat is to store in individual compartments or on a jig board. It works great on the boat, not sure about carrying it around for bank fishing

I used to stick about 6 in a cork, that way the hooks and barbs can't catch the craft hair.

And I agree with Russ about your painting skills. You're using the same cc illusion paint stuff Sonny uses? Never got around to trying that.
If I tie with a color combo in mind, it's BOLD. And while they work great for me, I like the way you're colors are subtly mixed into whites n greys. Everything pictured is sweet.

I ended up putting each color in a 2x3 bag to minimize tangles. As far as the painting goes probably 90% of my paints I mixed and blended myself. I use a lot of Holographic glitters and add UV Blast to most colors that don't have some fluorescence by itself so even subtle colors are visible under uv light. I think it makes a difference in deep or murky water. I love experimenting with paint combinations and paint a lot more then I tie.

Me too as far as painting vs tying. Just enjoy it more n prob wldnt tie if I Cldnt paint. Remember Sonny mentioning a holographic something or another a while back and thought you might be using also.

I use a lot of clear powder as well. It will really stretch out some colors.

Recently purchased some holographic silver glitter meant for pouring plastic lures from Jann's. The stuff is bigger than what Pro-Tech uses but think it gives off a little better multi-color holo effect. What kind of holo glitter are you using JungleJim? (in pics 1 & 2 with the silver/pink/chart heads?)

I'm hooked on using the clear along with mica stuff at the moment. The mica heads almost glow under any light out in the dark. Been out fishing a lot for walleye after dark this fall, and when i use my head lamp trying to see my jig being pulled in, the head some times fools me for glowing walleye eyes!

Most recent purchase of holo glitter was from a local hobby shop. It's a little bigger then the other stuff I had but it shows up really well in the powder paint. Never tried the mica but like how your painted heads look with it AF. Been experimenting with some glow powders that are a bit gritty but I can turn off the light at my desk when I'm finished at nigh and it will be glowing the next morning when I get up. Think I paid $9 an ounce for it. The UV Blast will give even Black a glow under uv light. Been using the glow paints a lot lately.

Pretty jigs. Those heads sure do have great-looking paint jobs.
