First I used a 1/8 walleye style jig with 4mm eyes and custom sweet pea color. Then I wrapped like you would start any jig.

After that I added my hackle and tinsel between the hook shank and the rattle.

Gave it another coat of Sally Hansen and ran my chinelle to right before the taper on the rattle.

Lastly I ran my chinelle up the rattle body and finished it off like any other jig. Here's the end result.

Looks good!
I recently thought about doing that same thing with some twitching jigs I make for salmon. The water has been terrible as far a visibility. The Oso land slide really messed up the river. Back in March there was a MASSIVE landslide by my house(about 10 minute drive from my house). The river has not been the same since. We have selective gear rules for the river, so we can't use scent or bait. Leaves noise factor as the only way to get fishes attention with minimum visibility.
Do let us know how they work!

It's getting cooler here with the winter front coming in so I figured going deep I'd add a little noise. They do work in stained water I can attest because I use them with soft plastics before I tied. They weren't hitting on anything except the rattle ones and the road runners. They give off a little noise too I guess

I use to make them for smallies, but stopped using glass rattles when one broke & the glass went down the fish's gullet.

Good to see someone else think of this. I have tied several like this, and last time I put same jig, one with one without, and caught 21 on rattle, 4 without. I didn't use any glue on rattle, and stayed in place fine, but after 21 fish, I cut off the rattle and chunked the jig. I figured at about 40 cents each, I would keep the rattle. Thanks for the seller on Ebay, I bought mine at Bass pro.
