Been working on a crayfish for awhile now, must of tied 15 or more before I got the fly to look like I wanted it to. :dodgy:
This one is tied on a size 10 x2 long nymph hook.
What are your thoughts on this one.

That should work, but send me a couple and I'll gladly test them!

Seriously, how do they hang in the water? with the weight being above and below the hook, not sure it will be easy to work under water.

The front barbell is the only weight, the back eye is bead-chain like used on lights and have no real weight to them.

Thanks :)

Bet ya get some on it . Just about the time the small craws start coming out in the spring . Do one in grey and sneak it over some rocks or sandy areas . Something will bust it .

Thanks guys. I do plan to tie some in a few colors, I think these will work great around here as our craws don't get over 2 to 3''.

QK, that is a nice crawdad.

Great-looking pattern and tie SH. Would work well in my area for river bass, no doubt.

Broke the hooks out last night. :) Looked them over pretty well...

Have an 8-wt. Orvis rod and a Ryall reel that I believe will be the bees knees for river bass. Hope to get it together soon after tying to fill a small box.

Thanks for your inspiration.

Thanks Pup. I hope you are able to get on the water and use the fly rod this year.

Tied three different colors of them to start off with to see how the fish like em. Stayed with the orange in the center on all of them.
Brown, black and olive. Was going to tie some gray but I don't have any squirrel zonker in gray.
This is how the fly should run on the bottom, well see.
