I haven't posted any ties for a little while so thought I'd show these. Still is my all time favorite jig to tie and use. In the past it's always been painted or nickel heads with the flash ducks, aka float n fly, so the gold heads are new for me but won't be the last one's. did ten of each of these for starters. Jim I have found that the Hot pink and Galaxy Black heads work the best. Much more research in to why these two colors. It might just be the lake river system or it could be the bait fish that we have. Like the new look to them with the plated heads. FWTW Anything with red in it works super well here. I always tie a bit of red hackle on a Flash Duck. May be a bleeding bait fish?????

I like em of course. Especially since they've been working so well for me. What are the weights?
Like the plated for how they look with the candy over em but dunno if I can pay someone to plate a jig head without feeling… ummmm……"excessive" is the easiest thing to say.

Expensive to do?

The duck jigs have caught me thousands of fish since I started tying them, long before I even heard of a float n fly. I've had these nickel and gold plated heads for several years now. Back then plated sickle jigs didn't exist and since the sickle is my favorite pan fish hook I went in with a couple guys that are members here and got a bunch plated in different sizes. At the time it wasn't that expensive to have jigs plated but recently gold plated jigs are through the roof with a dozen approaching $5 now. I won't be having any more gold plated with cost being about 4x what they were. Almost has me wondering if this gold is real. I like variety but have a friend that won't use anything but a duck jig with a nickel head and red thread and he's caught a lot on them. For variety I might change hackle colors for the throat for him. The spine on a duck feather under uv light really stands out looking like a lateral line when you tie them in from the side and if you tie them in top and bottom like these were it looks like a bright white streak in the belly which I believe really attracts fish. All my top fish catchers have some uv in it. I check my jigs all the time with a uv flash light to see how they look. Good tool to have around the tying area.
