Finished my swap jigs last night and pulled out a few other heads to tie up. Showing the group pic just to give an idea of the size difference.

First two are nose bleeder chubs. Did not go for subtle either. :D Tied with rabbit on the first one and craftfur/baitfish emulator on the second.

Last ones are ice fishing minded. 1/64's tied in LedHed's auto(ish) style but added some of either wool roving or halloween decoration spider web material out the back. Plan to tip then with a wax worm or dunk it in some gulp juice. Maybe the wool by itself will have a gummy feeling to the fish as if it were something alive. Maybe i give the fish too much credit. Maybe i think too much. Anyway....... :jig:

The leggy micros look nicely buggy. Personally, I'd prefer darker natural colors, but am interested how the psychedelics work.

Bright does work ......at times....... quick story from a recent trip:

I made it out Sunday, fishing at a local reservoir in some very cold water and wind blowing hard... found a population of bluegill that were decent sized (8" range) holding tight under the floating dock at the boat ramp. Clear water - many think 100% natural colors. So, started off with a 1/64 jig with black head, red neck, black kip tail. Only casting to opposite end of the dock, 10 feet or so, and watched the jig float down with polarized glasses. This lake is crystal clear and could easily watch it sink 15 feet down. First hour was frustrating as he!! watching eater sized bluegills bolt out from under the dock to inspect my jig... then turn their nose and disappear back under the dock. Even tried tipping the jig with a small piece of worm and nothing would get them to commit. So i went back into my jig box and looked for something that was the polar opposite of the black jig and found a 1/64 with red head and chart tail. Many of the fish still would inspect the jig and snub it, BUT others rushed out and slammed it hard, never giving it a second thought. Managed to come home with 7 bluegill that were 8" and larger from my 2 hour trip. Not an outstanding day, but don't think i would have come home with any if i had not switched.

Maybe it was just this individual day though..... ? Never know.

Hmm, black+red would be my if-only-one-color choice, for trouties anyway. Tried some BRIGHT red-troos Boolies Sept. in WY with high expectations, but trout weren't particularly impressed. Best color might depend on the species as well as time/place.

Those are fantastic, ideas coming in droves now, awesome work!!!! I have a question, the legs on those ice jigs, are they the new reptile rubber or something else? I can see those working for late season trout here, great job!!
