Mallard Tail Fly

Got to thinking today that I had never used mallard flank while tying a fly, sooo here are my first two. Think I like em :icon14:

You'll be hooked using it Stump!!!!!! I use lot's of hackle only because I've got a bunch and some traded for but mallard is what I call the poor mans hackle!!!!!! Works real well!!

I think I may have to give some flies like these a whirl. I've been having good luck using browns and tans lately. Nicely Done Stump! :icon14:

Thanks guys. I found that I had the brown saddle that matched the mallard very well and the black hourglass eyes just seemed to add to the look. I hope the fish like them too. Browns seem to work well on the gills and ears. Hope to try them out once the rain moves out nest week.
