Nice ties Andy!!! Are you using jigheads with barbed collars??? If so you may want to cut the collars off and tie right on the hook shank, it will keep you from having the big collars you do, just seems they're bigger than the head of the jig and think it might affect the action of your jigs.

This last batch of heads I got were collared but I cut them off before i painted them. When I tied the jigs In the pics above I intentionally built the thread up and coated it with jig finish to kinda make a body. I never thought of it affecting the action but you are right I think it might. I just tied a couple other lead heads that look a lot like the bead head in the first photo using just a little grey/black chenille for an under body (don't have any wool) and satin on top and bottom. They have a lot smaller collars and they look a lot better. Im sure they might work better too. Sometimes I try to make things too complicated and I have to tell myself "Keep It Simple Stupid"

If they catch fish that's what counts. I've got the satin and no wool, and waiting until I have both before I start. Keep em coming!!

Nice jigs!! Fatman is right about the oversize collar affecting the action but try them before giving up on that style. as sometimes mistakes end up working well and the oversize collar may just slow the fall down enough to make it work. I'm in the same boat as fatman but in my case I have wool but no satin but hopefully I get some today, the plain wool minnow head jigs I tied looked great in the water as it did have a very natural profile in the water. Keep on tying, and remember to try those big collar jigs, you may have found something that will work on your water.
