First post of my own ties, here goes...

I was at Cabela's and saw a pack of pine squirrel zonker strips in a sweet crawdad color, the wheels started turning and I had to tie some jigs with it..

I took some hints from CrappieHappy's craw and made the body out of home blended dubbing (didn't have any good chenille laying around) and the antennae and feelers are squirrel tail.

This is a simple flashabou tail and 'opalescent' estaz body. The head is painted with a really sparkly nail polish the fiancee had kicking around and the picture doesn't do the finish justice.

Both jighead's are lead free 1/32 ounce roundheads courtesy of Hawn, and they are painted with nail polish.

Very nice ties. Those pine squirrel zonkers look great. Great colors and use of materials. :icon14:

If you are interested in protecting your nail polish finishes, try coating your jig heads with a 2-part epoxy like Devcon 2 Ton (D2T).

I've painted with nail polish for years and often finish with a coat of D2T to protect it.

Very cool looking pine squirrel craw! That dub body should look nice and bulky once wet.

There are some of the nail polish that have colors you just can not get in powder or 'fishing' type vinyl paint. Think i still have a bottle of glitter nail polish that would be very similar to the 'bling' minnow that had lots and lots of holographic silver color glitter..... if my daughter didn't swipe it from me yet that is.

Our big jail on Oahu is the triple C - Community Correctional Center. I'd call your 'dad jig a quad C, for CrappieCatfishCarpCrawdad. If not already, you might qualify for the 60 minute club with nasty bottom feeder assistance.

The bling thing looks like wiper candy, good luck with 1/32 class gear.

During my short tenure on JC, several nail polishers who switched to powder never went back.

Powder paint is definitely the next thing I'm going to add to my workbench.
I really like the idea of sealing them with epoxy as pup suggested, nail polish definitely isn't that durable on its own.
