got the package of sculpin wool and kiptails from crazy angler today and tied a couple wool jigs this evening, orange head and green chart. wool body, fl. green thread. sickle size 4 hooks, got stuck a couple times trying to pull the wool back, need to be careful with the sickles. lol

went to joanns fabrics today and bought some satin for tying jigs with. must have got 5 or 6 colors and it was real cheap. came home and tied one jig using the white satin as a tail, it was easy to pull the fibers out of the fabric after I cut a 2x2 peice. I really like the effect it gives the jigs appearance. here is the simple wool and satin jig I tied, it's a 1/32 roundhead on a size 4 sickle.

anyway, the satin came in a bunch of colors, and it was 43 inches wide on the bolt, and I just got the lady to cut me 6 inch wide peices 43 inches long. I got 2 peices of white, one peice of dark green, one of a beautiful green, don't know what to call it, one dark blue, one red. and all this was less than 5 bucks!! so it is cost effective. I got the costume satin which is the cheapest, still learning to tie this wool to get the effect I want. wonder how slow this stuff falls? need to dunk one in the pool.

oh yeah, I got a purple peice too, it is gorgeous!! cheap cheap cheap is the word, all these expensive materials for accenting jigs may fall by the wayside if this stuff works, which I am sure it does.

Excellent shad type shapes to those jigs. Going to have to get some of this wool just so i can stretch it & see how it all works. If it holds shape...... can see it taking place of kip tail in some circumstances.

I like the sculpin wool but would like to get some wool on the hide that hasn't been brushed out, I would use this on the hook point side of the jig. wondering if I need the satin fibers on the outside of the wool like ole RED does, it's not very often I verticle jig, at least not yet, most of my fishing with a jig is done under a float.
