I was very impressed with RonDon's pic with the hackle body so I PM'd him with questions and watched a few You-Tube videos. Here's my first attempt, on one of RonDon's fish heads I might add. I used a crow feather on the first one and neck hackle on the second.

Pretty good for your first ones, the more you make the easier it gets. Look for some hackle with thinner stems, much easier to wrap and they will look even better. Bugger jigs are killer crappie baits.

Attaboy. Yep it will be second nature before too long. You will be able to pick out which feathers will work best.

Thanks guys, I've got to get some better feathers to do this with. What is the best stuff to look for? I've seen saddle hackle, grizzly hackle, neck hackle and others. Sorta like standing in front of the beer cooler when I'm thirsty. LOL

Good stuff Scott. Keep working at it and it will come easier.

Use American raised saddles. I use mostly Hoffman’s (for hen saddles too). Metz is also another good saddle hackle – there are a lot of suppliers out there.
The saddles are so much easier to use and you get a lot of tyes with them. Think the cost is reasonable.

LedHed those look great. I'll check out those suppliers and get some good feathers. Thanks! I guess I can leave the crows alone for now. LOL

Hunter, thanks for the link. Some good looking stuff!

I know what you mean Scott!! I just ordered some eyes from the link you gave me and had another box from Net-craft come in Saturday. LOL, I am enjoying making the jigs, painting the jigs and trying different jigs. Trying my best to not look at the jig molds!!!!
