I've been doing pretty well with the 1/32 and 1/64 shad darts this year tied with duck feathers and thought that a 1/16 would slay them in a few rivers that I fish. My amigo came through for me and loaned me an older Do it shad dart mold that has assorted sizes. I started pouring 1/16 and 1/8 then switched over to some 1/32 once the mold warmed up. After the first pour I could tell that the 1/32 was heavier than mine so once I got enough poured I weighed them and sure enough, they weighed 1/24. Jackpot !!! The past few days have been spent pouring, painting and finally tying some up. The 1/16 are on 2's and 4's sickle hooks,1/24 on 6 and 4's. Definitely my favorite mold,at least for now. The dart heads are more triangular shaped leaving me room to create along the shank. Here's some finished baits, can't wait to get them wet.View attachment 6View attachment 7View attachment 8

Nice Jim!!!!!!!! and like everyone else that's not the shape of the new ones. I used to have that mold and sold it in the late 80's but seeing all the great ties coming out wish I still had it!!!!!!!

In the second pic middle jig is that a custom paint mix??? I like it!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. After the grandaughter whipped up on me and a buddy using a 1/32 duck dart on an ultralight rig while I only had my smallie gear with me,I've wanted a heavier dart and was loaned a mold that I can pour heavier heads. The 1/24 was a huge bonus which I'll be able to cast farther while still keeping the bait profile small. Now I have something to compete with Luci with. She's still talking about catching more than me that day. Fm, almost every paint I own has been doctored up by me some way or another, usually add glitter, clear or mixing two or more colors together.

LP, they work great vertical jigging, especially when you try to hold it still when the winds blowing. I think they'd work anywhere.

Will have to do some of them with the new Do-It mold. Sure do like the Flash Duck pattern and the Shad Dart head. I have done some modification to the head after I get them poured. So don't know about the weight but sure do like the shape.

I will say the weight is of little importance to me it is more about length and profile. Guess in my old age I just like'um pretty.

Those are awesome jigs! Never fished with a Shad dart head. Is there any particular jigging technique that works best for these type heads?
