I had a friend that I fish with in the Magnolia Crappie Club ask me to tie him some bluegill jigs. He wanted a 1/80 oz on a #10 hook. He wanted all black with two strands of silver tinsel. I ordered the heads from chuckanddebs.com and got started. Man, I respect those of you who tie such small jigs.
One of these pics is what I normally tie, a 1/8 oz on a #2 hook, compared to the tiny jighead.

He is not feeding you any bull . You tied them exactly like they needed to be . Sometimes helps if you clear coat the body . Gills can dink up the thread and it can come loose . Coating them makes the jig indestructable . That is untill the little suckers chew off the tail.

Look at them Ninja jigs

exactly what I was thinking!
Sweet you have the avenue to communicate with people close to you about tying. everyone here uses plastics, until you show em a stringer when the plastics aren't working. They look great and betcha the sunfish'll think the same.
Way to go Scott.

Those look great! Russ did a little tutorial awhile back incorporating flash into a thread body. After you clear coat it, it is indeed indestructible and the gills love it! Well done.

Remember.... trout flies START about size 10 and go down! Haha

Great job! I just tied some #12 hooks (found them and was told by some fly fisherman they were !2's) that some want for Trout. Just bucktail and flash on them.
Explain to a fresh water newbie fishing with the cork. I'm curious, may try it with these hooks I just tied.

Nice ties. I've got some really small jig heads like that. Had them for years and never fished with them. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

BLT, a cork is another word for a bobber or float. You just tie the jig on the end of the line and clip the float onto the line at the depth you want to fish. For really small jigs, you need to add additional weight. Just use a weighted bobber or squeeze a few split shot onto the line to balance it. Use the smallest bobber you can easily cast, so the fish doesn't feel much resistance when it pulls the bobber under.

There's fancier setups with multiple hooks and slip bobbers (so you can fish at a depth greater than 6 feet or so) but that's the basic technique.
