Yea,I've been at it again. Here are a couple 4 oz. and 3 oz. Ultra Minnows. They are about the same size of them perch that I've been catching, lol.Got the new powder paint into Hoagie Pepper jars that work just perfectly.I think that I'm ready for them 50 pound stripers now.I found that the cheap pair of slip ring pliars works perfect for totally cleaning out the hook eyes even if they are full of paint. Here's a quarter for your thoughts.

Try some Flor. orange on the front down to the belly, helps get their attention!

By the way, I like the amount of hair you use also. Better action than a lot of the ones I tie. Most people want to much hair on their teasers/jigs IMO, but that is what sells right now...more hair.
Then again, the amount of hair will affect the drop rate of the lure/teaser also. 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. Either way, I like that amount for myself in your pics.

Thanks guys. The amount of hair that you use can make or break a jig when the current is flowing.Too much and jig won't hold bottom.Too boyant.

I've got all of every jig on photobucket and move them to another folder when they catch a fish. This 4 oz. blue and white measures 7 1/2 inches.Crazy Angler supplied a very, very long white tail, the hairs were at least 6 1/2 long, some reaching 8 inches. That why you see all the white saltwater jigs recently, lol.

That's an 8/0 Mustad hook.

Those are excellent. That white paint looks much better than the HF stuff I use.
I've never fished anything but plastic down here. But then again I'm not a salt guy. My dad would have a much better understanding. It's a shame really. I live in salt heaven and I just can't get into it. Love me some blackened red fish though.
Look forward to fish pics.

Lost Pole....I use plastics all the time with bucktail jigs. For Flounder, 1/4-3/8oz. Tandems, and most times, Gulp alive and sometimes add a piece of fresh cut bait on it also. When you push the plastic up on the hook, it flares out the hair like a parachute and makes for some really great action in the water.

Mostly have just used Gulp (new penny), Matrix shad (lemon head) and Speculizers. Will have to tie something up if I go again any time soon. I know theyre killing flounder right now, but think the specks have moved away from the bridges. Just can't leave the bayou and paddle alone.
Thx.

Specs? You have Specs down there? They are almost a trophy where I go. They regulated them to late around where I go.

If you mean specked trout. Yeh, they're a target species and when I go with my pops we limit out quite often. Prob the most popular fish here.

Ledhed....I'm doing the same jigs, and I am using an Apex vise. Some use vise grips, the put them in a work bench vise to hold them, but I like being able to spin the jigs around.

This is pushing the limits of my vise, and I should have modified it. There are 2 holes on the vise, and I should have drilled the back hole out a little larger to handle the 8/0 hooks, and leave the front hole for the "regular" size hooks/teasers I do. I have an add on Craigslist right now looking for used fly tying equipment, threads or whatever. I want another vise for the smaller hooks, and you know how people get into a hobby and it only last for a year or so, the stuff sits around going to waste. Maybe I can find one of them ans score a good deal.

If I'm not mistaken, you can buy a 20-$30 vise from Barlows to do the job. No thrills or nothing, but it will hold them, and you can rotate the jig around.
