The tail looks good but you either need to cut down the size of the chenille (don't know what size you used) or don't double wrap. It looks like you tied off at the bottom of the chenille most here tie off at the head with a whip finish.

Other than that fish it and have fun!!!! You'll get better with practice.

Ditto on Fatman's advice. It looks like a small jig head and with maybe medium sized chenille.... I either use ultra chenille on smaller jigs or end up cutting some of the fibers from the medium chenille.

If you tie on your chenille at the back (hook point end) and then wrap it forward to the head, you can 'hide' the thread a little better finishing it up next to the head.

I bet it will catch fish thought - keep at it!

Go fish somewhere where there's a steelhead. One will whack that. :icon14:

Keep on tying and keep the advice above in mind.

Yellowjacket,I would first get your tail to surround your hook shank.Try a couple with just a thread body to the jighead until you get your finish knot to work properly.Once you can get a good looking jig that way,the chenille will be much easier to do_One step at a time.It will happen fast with these turkies around here !!lol.

The color combo is beautiful! It would make a good small mouth or crappie jig around here. The advice the guys are giving you is good advice - take it to mind not the heart. I agree with Doc, it does get easier as you go along. Keep up the good tying. Can't wait to see more!
