Going thru an old issue of FurFish and Game. Saw an add for tanned furs from Strips inc. They had great prices on all sorts of furs then saw they wanted a $100 minimum order. looked good til the $100 thing. But then thought one of you guys mite use a bunch of fur. Just passin it on. Arne.

Maybe a beginner trying out different stuff might blow $100, but having been there done that alls I need now are dark & light mink fur which strips I cut myself from cheap off grade scraps. Best choice for trout jigs, for other species off the rack softies work just fine.

Yepper, pretty quiet here. Thought maybe could get a few others to speak up. And really if I wanted some fur would probably just dig the traps out. Fur is mostly worthless now so at least could get a few lures out of it. Arne.

Thanks for the info, I use mostly feather and some fox for fresh water. Bucktail for salt. Trout fishing is slim pickings where I live. The state boys turn some loose in the wintertime, but that can turn into a rodeo...

Bucktail and bass have been a couple since before Billy Westmoreland wrote about them

With proper hair, feathers, & fur and a modicum of presentation skills, one could probably do quite well exclusively with tied jigs for all species cept maybe catfish might respond better with a stinky tip or dip.

Dunno, these words I never use in conversation randomly drop down from head into hand.

Never tried fox, what size jigs - target species ?.

You for sure can catch cats on jigs, my largest to date on a rod and reel. Jigs are about all I fish with anymore, and its mostly for crappie. But I do enjoy going offshore for the big stuff, and bucktail is better suited for those guys, but even bucktail doesn't last long there. Fox fur gets used on 1/8 and smaller jigs.
