Couple Spin Ties

Tied up a couple belly spin type lures on 1/16's with over size Gami hooks, but used clipped sections of the safety pin style spinners. Just put a bend in the very end that i wrapped around the shank and then wrapped it all tight with thread. Think they turned out pretty good. Hopefully get out in the next week to throw them at some walleye. Temps are going to drop soon, so need to get them while the water is still soft. Also been painting a few new heads here and there that i am going to tie up as well.

The big Indiana torque might overpower the light jig head, be interesting to find out how it swims.

Nice ties, good idea with the clipped safety pin arms. I've been using the herring under spins for over a year now and it's one of my favorite blade baits now. I mash the round collar part down and it keeps a thinner profile with buck tail. Lately been tying them with Indiana blades over the willows and they spin better at slower speeds. If I want a lighter bait then I remove the collar portion of lead as well.

Looking Good! I like that idea of getting the blade down farther away from the hair. What do you use to glue the eyes onto the thread with? I was thinking hot glue would keep them on better than a hard glue but wasn't sure.

Oh yes.... temps sure changed. I got out twice and tried these spinners. First time got an excellent hit and brief hook-up. Second time not a bit on a jig but did catch a 19" walleye on a stick crank. Now..... i think everything will be walking on water instead of casting.

These eyes i glued on with gel super glue. They stayed on through the 2 days i fished them, but not really sure about the long term. Never tried gluing on to a thread neck like this. Trial and error so far. I wondered if the clear cure UV goo stuff would hold better??

I was going to suggest a UV resin. I got the Clear Cure Goo kit back in Feb. It's worked good for me so far, but I need to get the final top-coat resin that doesn't cure tacky. Loon Flow and Hydro might be a better choice. Only real problem I have with the CCG is that I have a really hard time dispensing the exact amount I want/need onto a fly. I'm going to start putting a dollop onto a piece of paper, then use my bodkin to put just the amount of resin that I want.

I've been watching a lot of videos on making articulated streamers the past couple months. Many of those use a UV resin to build up a head, and to flatten fibers or to get the fibers to point in a certain direction.
