What is everyone's opinion on the best spinning reel under $100 for light jigging with 6 or 8 lb. test?

Can anyone tell me what the best way is to remove synthetic marabou from the bundle it comes in? I'm afraid to cut it because I don't want to square the ends of the leftover material.
