Beautiful jigs, Always love your work. I was thinking about looking at walmart for some materials. I know the dollar stores usually have something good especially during christmas. I'd call the first one the bumble bee. Smile

Bernat Disco Eyelash Yarn - Glad It's Night and Jungle Jive what is..and where do I get it ?????

RT,

It's a woven strand that has little threads of yarn protruding from it. Yarns of this type are called eyelash yarns because the threads emanate from the strand like lashes from an eyelid. The manufacturer's yarn color names, Glad It's Night and Jungle Jive, represent the black and green colors pictured, respectively.

Bernat Disco has been discontinued. Though, you can sometimes find a few unused skeins as well as remnants for sale on eBay. It has a flash-like film woven into the yarn that makes for nice-looking "tentacles" at the tail section of a jig. It also has a longer thread length relative to other eyelash yarns.

An alternative to Disco is Lion Brand Fun Fur. It can be found in many craft, hobby, and department stores. It has some good-looking colors along with some decent metallic-looking sheens, but it lacks any "built-in" flash. Its thread length is a little longer than Disco, which keeps it in my tying bin. The price is reasonable and it's on sale often.

I like eyelash yarn because it allows me to tie jigs that look and fish like the soft plastic tube baits that work ever-so-well for smallmouth bass.
